Luke and I just returned from an awesome trip to northern California for a whole week! Joe stayed with Luke's parents and it sounds like he had a blast. He loves it there so it was nice to not have to worry about him. Thanks Mimi and Popops! We really missed Joe but we also really enjoyed getting away for a bit.
We met up with Luke's sis, Mary Kathryn and her hubs, Tim, in San Fran and did some fun stuff there then we drove a couple hours to Sonora where we stayed the rest of the week. Luke's aunt and uncle live there and when Luke was young, he and the rest of the Dunn fam, used to go there every summer and play. It was so fun to see all the places that I've heard so much about. Thanks Dennis and Jan for your hospitality! Can't wait to come back! :)
Here are a bunch of pics but there will probably be more because there are some on Mary Kathryn's camera too!
At the wharf in San Fran!
Alcatraz in the background.
Me and Mary Kathryn at the Crookedest Street.
At the top of Crookedest St.
Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Woot!
The largest gold nugget EVER! It's like 44 pounds or something and worth over a million dollars!
Me and Mary Kathryn with big pine cones from Big Trees.
Man those trees are BIG! Awesome!
Pinecrest. Really pretty lake in the mountains.
Yosemite! Probably the highlight. It was amazing! We couldn't get enough waterfall pictures!
Yosemite Falls in the background.
We did a hike called Mist Trail. It goes so close to the waterfall you pretty much get soaked on part of it. Hence the water on the camera lens. It was cold but so fun!
Half Dome in the background. People actually hike up that!
At the beach in Monterey, near Pebble Beach.
Luke in the water. He told me it was REALLy cold..I took his word for it!
Now I know why it's called Pebble Beach! The grains of sand are unusually large.
